Substation Structural Ladder

Requirements Detailed

The ascent ladder of the substation frame for maintenance and overhaul personnel shall meet the human conditions for on-line maintenance, and the ladder width shall not be less than 0.30m. The single pipe beam to be mounted shall be provided with a reliable handrail for maintenance personnel to fasten the safety belt.

Building ladder setting principle

1) In principle, one frame column ladder should be set at an interval of one frame column, and it should be set against the side of the road to facilitate the operation and maintenance personnel to climb.

In principle, there are no ladders in the busbar columns of the 500kV substations and below, and no or few ladders in the busbar columns of the 750kV substations and above, under the principle that the ladders of the exit columns can take into account the walkway on the busbar beam.

2) "H" type ladder should be adopted in substations above 500kV, and "1" type ladder should be adopted in substations below 330kV.

3) Cage or anti-fall device should be added to the ladder of 750kV and above substation, and platform between stairs should be set up every 8m. Cage design can refer to the national standard atlas "Steel Ladder" 02J401 implementation.

Setting principle of ladder cage:

Fixed Steel ladder and platform safety requirements - Part 1: Steel ladder (GB4053.1-2009), when the height of a single ladder segment is greater than 7m, the safety cage should be set. A safety cage should also be installed when the climbing height is less than 7m, but the top of the ladder is greater than 7m above the ground, floor or roof.

Notice of the State Grid Corporation on Issuing Uniform Opinions on the Differences Clause of the Technical Standards of Power Grid Equipment stipulates:

National Standard related ladder safety cage setting requirements are mainly aimed at building ladder climbing. "State Grid Company Electric Power Safety Working Regulations (Substation Part)" (State Grid Safety Supervision 2009[664]) does not explicitly require that vertical ladder should be equipped with an anti-fall safety self-locking device. Only in the line part of 7.10 provisions, "steel pipe tower, more than 30m tower and 220kV and above the line tower should be set up to prevent operators from up and down the tower and the horizontal movement of the tower on the anti-fall safety protection device. At the same time, State Grid Company Safety Supervision I [2010] No. 59 has requested to suspend the implementation of the above article 7.10.

For the climbing ladder of the substation, the lower part is generally equipped with locking facilities, general personnel can not climb, the users are professionals, and are equipped with safety auxiliary facilities such as safety belts.

Generally, there is no need to set up a cage in the structural ladder of substation. For the high height and lattice structure such as extra-high pressure, the cage can be installed in combination with the frame form.
