Tapered Transmission Structures


The tapered steel tubular tower structure has relative technical and economic advantages, which is suitable for the transmission tower bearing large loads.

(1) Load characteristics

The steel tubular tower rod bearing small wind pressure, section bending stiffness, simple structure, clear force transfer, can give full play to the bearing performance of the material, on the one hand can reduce the weight of the tower, reduce the foundation force; On the other hand, it is helpful to enhance the ability to resist natural disasters under extreme conditions. Under the condition of meeting the requirements of strength and stability calculation, the wind load can be significantly reduced by adopting the steel tubular tower with relatively small wind pressure coefficient.

(2) Section characteristics

The section center of steel pipe member is symmetrical and the section characteristics are isotropic. The material is evenly distributed in the periphery, and the bending stiffness of the section is large. For the tension bar of transmission tower, when the cross-sectional area of steel pipe and Angle steel is equal, the steel pipe tower rod does not show its advantage. For the bending members of the transmission tower, the steel pipe with small cross-sectional area and large rotary radius can give full play to the mechanical properties of the material, and meet the requirements of structural stiffness and stability. Especially for the large structural geometric size and long large load steel tower, the advantages of good stability of the steel pipe tower members are obvious.

(3) structural connection

In terms of structural connection, the main material of the steel pipe tower is connected by flange or intersecting connection, the inclined material and the main material are connected by inserting plate or intersecting connection, the main material of the Angle steel tower is connected by internal and external connection, and the other rods are connected by connecting plate and bolt. The connection structure of flange and plate of steel tube tower is relatively simple. Although it increases the welding workload, it reduces the adverse influence of eccentric Angle steel members on the bearing performance of the structure. Meanwhile, it enhances the stiffness and compactness of the connecting joints, which helps to improve the overall stiffness and stability of the structure and the ability to resist the wind dynamic load.
