5G Cell Tower
5G towers are telecommunications sites capable of transmitting 5G “New Radio” signals for wide-area coverage. They are typically 50 to 200 feet tall and designed to blend into the natural environment to limit the aesthetic impact.
5G cell towers use a combination of low, mid, and high-frequency bands for various connectivity use cases. For example, macrocell antennas can be installed on towers to efficiently deliver low-frequency cellular coverage to millions of devices over a large region. Low-band 5G can travel far distances and penetrate walls, windows, and other physical barriers.
Supports communication with user devices and the core network. Acccording to the logical function division, 5G base stations can be divided into 5G base band unit and 5G RF unit, which can be connected through CPRI or eCPRI interface. The 5G baseband unit is responsible for NR baseband protocol processing, including the whole user surface (UP) and control surface (CP) protocol processing functions, and provides the back interface (NG interface) between the core network and the base station interconnection interface (Xn interface).
The 5G RF unit mainly completes the conversion of NR baseband signal and RF signal and the transmission and processing of NR RF signal. In the downlink direction, the baseband signal from the 5G baseband unit is received and transmitted through the switch and antenna unit after up-conversion, digital-to-analog conversion, RF modulation, filtering, signal amplification and other transmission link (TX) processing. In the upstream direction, the 5G RF unit receives the upstream RF signal through the antenna unit. After receiving link (RX) processing such as low noise amplification, filtering and demodulation, the 5G RF unit is converted into baseband signal and sent to the 5G baseband unit through analog-to-digital conversion and down conversion.
Equipment system
In order to support flexible networking architecture and adapt to different application scenarios, 5G wireless access network will have a variety of different architectures and forms of base station devices. From the perspective of equipment architecture, 5G base stations can be divided into different architectures, such as BBU-AAU, CU-DU-AAU, BBU-RRU-Antenna, CU-DU-RRU-Antenna, and integrated gNB. From the perspective of equipment forms, 5G base stations can be divided into baseband equipment, radio frequency equipment, integrated gNB equipment and other forms of equipment.
When the tower is built, the main part of the tower needs to be installed the existing 5g tower is mainly composed of tower body, platform, lightning rod, ladder, antenna and other components. The antenna as the transmitting end is exposed to the air for a long time. Rain on the surface of the antenna can freeze, and if the ice is too thick, it can interfere with the transmission of the signal.
